Students also enjoyed videos outlining the voting process , how votes are counted and why every vote counts. The session concluded with students partaking in a mock vote.

Refugee week celebration

We had great time yesterday celebrating Refugee Week!

The event kicked off with Key note speaker Gary Cachia, Community Development/Project Officer of NSW Service for the Treatment & Rehabilitation of Torture & Trauma Survivors who gave us a real insight into the programs and services offered to support refugees in NSW.

Gary's presenation was followed by a special saxophone performance by a refugee student from Fairfield Highschool who played a song for us.

To top it off one of our very own Outreach students enlightened us with a speech on 'Refugee contributions to society', artworks from the Refugee Art Project were on display, refugee students from Bossley Park High sold their own handmade jewellery and the group danced the afternoon away to traditional Arabic rhythms.

All and all a delightful day that was topped off with a feast of multicultural delights.

Thank you to all attended and special thanks to Zena Iaali and her Outreach Certificate 2 students who developed and orgainised the event.
