More than 200 health students and staff attended Wetherill Park College Libraries Donate Life morning tea to help raise awareness on the importance of organ and tissue donation. Guest speaker and Clinical Nurse Consultant from South Western Sydney Health, Michelle Dowd imparted insightful knowledge and stories from brave and thoughtful Australians whose lives have been transformed by a donor’s life-affirming decision.
In a moving discussion Michelle paid tribute to the recent victims of the one punch blow, whose lives so tragically and abruptly ended, each generously donated to the Australian Organ Donor Register saving the lives of others. By sharing stories of donations and patient survival, she was able to highlight why donation is so vital. Michelle encouraged attendees to register their donation decision on the Australian Organ Donor Register, and discuss their wishes with their family and friends.
